We at MAMS take great pride in organizing tournaments recurrently so that emerging players get a platform to showcase their talent and develop competitive spirit at the rural grass roots. There is no alternative to ‘match practice’ and hence has always been our endeavour to provide students which this indispensable exposure from time to time. We have organized the following tournaments from 2012-14 :-

This was our first attempt at organizing a tournament at this picturesque venue. This tournament was played during on a green mat since the ground had not been prepared as yet. Eight local teams from Haridwar, Roorkee, Rishikesh and Dehradun participated in this event and MAMS Cricket Academy emerged as the deserving winner. Being December, the weather was extremely chilly and windy and hence a lot of people compared this to England. The success of this tournament gave us confidence to keep convert this into a state of the art facility and continue organizing such tournaments regularly.

1 maa anandmayee memorial u-17 national cricket tournament 2013

This tournament was played from 8th June to 14th June 2014. The following teams participated in this tournament:-

3. MANAV RACHNA CRICKET ACADEMY, FARIDABAD

4. D.P.S. HISSAR

8. ABHIMANYU CRICKET ACADEMY, DEHRADUN

After hard fought and exciting battles, ACA and MAMS made it to the final which had to be abandoned due to the torrential downpour that turned into a flood taking away several lives in Uttarakhand.

This tournament was played from 23rd – 26th December 2013 at Delhi Public School, Haridwar and at MAMS, Raiwala. Mr. Deepak Khanna (CMD, Repographics India Limited) kindly sponsored this tournament. The following teams participated :-

There were 13 matches played in all at DPS and MAMS and eventually Victoria Park Meerut emerged as the deserving winners edging over Delhi Wonder in the Final.

Football is dearer to out students than any other sport. Keeping this in mind we took an impromptu decision to organize a football tournament at very short notice. This tournament was sponsored by ACC Cement Ltd. The tournament was played from 14th to 16th September and the following teams participated

Welham Boys’ School won this tournament quite convincingly beating UK Sports Association in the Final. Sports Minister of Uttarakhand, Shir Dinesh Aggarwal, gave away the prizes during the closing ceremony of this tournament
 UCA Intra-District Cricket Cup 2013
This tournament was organized by Uttaranchal Cricket Association for the first time on our grounds. All city units units of Dehradun District participated for the coveted trophy and in a thrilling final, Vikasnagar beat Rishikesh to emerged victorious.
 All India Rohinton Baria Inter-University Cricket Tournament
It was our proud privilege to host two matches of this prestigious University level tournament at our grounds in 2014. This tournament was played in Uttarakhand for the very first time and was organized by the Uttarakhand Technical University.

After considerable planning, we invited the best of schools to participate in this tournament. Which was played between 30th April and 4th May 2014 at DPS and MAMS. We did inevitably succeed to get the sought after schools on board. This tournament was path breaking in the sense that for the first time we had most outstation teams staying and dining on campus. Looking after so many people was never going to be an easy task and this tournament provided us that indispensable feedback about how to cater to the players during the course of such events.

Although the Mecca of Cricket in the Capital, Modern School was easily pipped to be the winners but late entrants Bal Bhavan who were invited at the last moment to fill in for YPS Mohali (who backed out at the last moment due to District trials) got the better of them in the league stage. They went on to win the tournament in fine fashion beating Sehwag International School in the Final. The tournament was kindly sponsored by Mr. Ajay Kumar in the memory of his father.
 UCA Cricket League 2014
The Uttaranchal Cricket Association organized this league for the very first time on the lines of leagues that are played all the year round in various states. Schools/Clubs/Academies were invited to register themselves and their players separately. Several clubs across Haridwar & Dehradun district appreciated the concept and participated in the qualifying round which saw about 30 matches. Planning for the super league is now underway.

The success of the same tournament in 2013 gave us confidence to organize it once again in 2014 but with a more planned approach. We definitely wanted to take this tournament a few notches hire and hence we sent out invites well in advance. The tournament was played at our expansive and state of the art playground from Friday 22nd August to Sunday 24th August 2014. The tournament received an overwhelming response, as we had to deny a few enthusiastic teams entry due to paucity of time to organize so many matches in such a short duration. The following teams participated in this tournament :-

A total of 24 league matches were played on Friday and Saturday to determine the teams that will proceed to the Semi Finals on Sunday morning. After hard fought and riveting battles, Genesis – Noida, DAV – Ddun, DIS (A) – Ddun and Welham Boys’ – Ddun proceeded to the Semi Finals from their respective pools.

The 1st Semi – Final was played between DAV and Welham. In an edge of the seat encounter that went the distance, Welham prevailed over DAV in the tie break after the match was tied 3-3 at full time.

The 2nd Semi – Final was played between DIS and Genesis in which DIS had the lead for majority of the match but towards the end Genesis boys picked up their game and eventually secured victory 2-1.

The Final was a classic that was played between the two most deserving teams of the tournament: Genesis Global School, Noida and defending champions Welham Boys’ School, Dehradun. Both teams began cautiously knowing that this match could go either way. Although Genesis led comfortably 2-0 towards the end of the first half but they let Welham bounce back with two quick goals as soon as play resumed after break. Welham scored again leading the crowd to believe that this match was done and dusted but Genesis scored right back to make the tie even more interesting. At full time the game was tied at 3-3. In the penalty shoot out, both teams kept scoring till the very last shot. The Genesis keeper saved the final shot by Welham to drive their team to victory and be crowned the deserving champions of Director’s Cup 7-a-side Football Tournament. The seemingly underdogs, had scripted a fairytale victory to the delight of the audience winning many a hearts with their skillful play.
