On April 17, a group of students went on an educational tour to the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee. During the visit, the students had the opportunity to explore the campus and visit various facilities, including the Mahatma Gandhi Central Library and the Re-Think Tinkering Lab.
At the Mahatma Gandhi Central Library, the students were able to see the extensive collection of books and research materials available for students and faculty members. The library also offered access to online databases and research journals, which the students could use for their academic pursuits.
The students then visited the Tinkering Lab, which is a state-of-the-art facility equipped with advanced tools and equipment for prototyping and innovation. During their visit, the students were introduced to the concept of 3D printing and were shown various 3D printing machines in action.
The students were amazed by the different types of 3Dprinting machines, including the multijet 3D printer, hot plate welding machine, 3D bioprinting machine, etc. The multijet 3D printer is capable of producing high-resolution 3Dmodels, while the hot plate welding machine uses heat to join plastic parts together.
The most fascinating machine for the students was the 3D bioprinting machine, which is used to print living tissues and organs. The machine uses living cells as ink and can produce complex tissue structures that can be used for medical research.
Overall, the educational tour of IITRoorkee was a valuable experience for the students. They were able to witness firsthand the advanced technology and research facilities available at the institute, which would inspire them to pursue their academic and research goals. We thank the Tinkering Lab team at IIT-R for facilitating this informative visit.
