About the School & Founder

On 27th August 1982 at about 8:00 pm in Dehradun, Maa completed her lila on earth and assumed the immutable immanent form. Maa Anandmayee Memorial School was founded in 1985 in the memory of the Divine Mother by a devotee of Maa, Mr. Ram Panjwani, who created a trust under the able guidance of Shri. B. K. Shah (Founder of New India Assurance Co. Ltd.) who was another revered devotee of Maa.

After hectic Utsavas, Maa often retired here in the village Gauri Mafi, where the school is located. She had once remarked that the place would become valuable one day, and what can be more valuable than imparting knowledge.

The School is an English Medium day cum residential school affiliated to The Council for Indian School Certificate Examination, New Delhi. It offers sound education and facilities for sports and extra curricular activities for students from playgroup to Class XII.

Although the school is founded as a memorial to Maa, it is run absolutely as a secular institution. Maa believed in human and moral values, which we endeavor to inculcate in our students.

She further said, “Try to grasp the significance of all is his and you will immediately feel free from all burdens. None will seem alien, and will be your very own, yourself.”

Maa is the embodiment, in human form, of the ideal relationship between man and God. She was acclaimed the world over as the Divine incarnate and epitome of divine love, bliss, compassion and truth that radiated from her person spontaneously. Maa’s very presence cut the evil of darkness and brought about salvation to aspiring souls, irrespective of caste, creed or religion.

Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, Smt. Indira Gandhi and Gulzari Lal Nanda are few of Maa’s devotees. Maa had vast number of devotees not only in India but also in France, Germany, England and America. Her heritage continues to inspire people towards moral recovery and reestablishment of civilized behavior of which India was once proud of and in turn attracted the world to its spiritual treasure.
